Details
Drawing inspiration from various West African tribes, artisan Ralph Ashong presents this attractive pendant necklace that is ideal for a casual look. Crafted by hand from local sese wood, the trapezoid-shaped pendant is engraved with an adinkra symbol called nkyinkyim, which is an Akan word representing “toughness” and “adaptability”. Adinkra symbols are believed to have their origin an ancient kingdom that once stood where Ivory Coast is today in West Africa. The sleek pendant hangs from an adjustable nylon cord, making it a versatile accessory for men and women.
